Checking in to The Lalu Sun Moon Lake

Checking in to The Lalu Sun Moon Lake

It’s not every day you can say you visited location as calming as Sun Moon Lake. The more I have travelled as I get older, the harder I have found it to discover places this beautiful but yet somehow, still so untouched. For my birthday this year, I travelled to Taiwan for a brief getaway. The highlight of the trip came in the form of The Lalu Sun Moon Lake, a quiet and unassuming luxury hotel in the middle of Taiwan offering peace, serenity and perhaps unsurprisingly, a wellness focus.

Checking In to The Lalu Hotel

When I began researching my trip to Taiwan, the first place I knew I wanted to visit was Sun Moon Lake. This picturesque resort town looked like the perfect place to perch up for a few days and disconnect, which is exactly what was offered on arrival.

The Lalu Hotel has welcomed many political leaders and celebrities over the years it has been operating. It is widely considered one of the best hotels in the country, which is not hard to believe when you turn the corner and discover the backdrop of which the hotel resides.

Around the Hotel

This is the kind of hotel you check-in to, to check-out of reality. The hotel has everything you will need to park up for a few days and do the bare minimum – a pool, a gym, yoga classes, and a handful of restaurants. The rooms are also well-equipped, if a little outdated, but certainly have everything you need to relax and take in the views over the lake.

What to do in Sun Moon Lake

If you reach the point in your stay where you’d like to get outside and adventure, there are plenty of activities on offer in the area. The first and most obvious would be to venture off on a lake walk, as there are well-paved pathways offered to explore the lake.

If you fancy a little sightseeing, there are a handful of attractions nearby the hotel. A visit to Longfeng Temple is often considered the top attraction, second only to walking or cycling around the lake. Another popular spot is Xiangshan Lookout, where you can enjoy panoramic views over the lake from a reasonable distance. As such, this is the perfect place to enjoy a sunset.
