MG Motor Malaysia has unveiled exclusive early bird savings for its upcoming MGS5 EV at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025, following the earlier announcement of the B-Segment electric SUV’s estimated starting price of RM115,000 (which you can read about here: https://timchew.net/2025/04/16/mg-motor-malaysia-unveils-all-new-mgs5-ev-in-malaysia-with-prices-starting-from-rm115000/)
The launch event on 8 May 2025, was attended by several dignitaries including YBhg. Datuk (Dr.) Aminar Rashid (Chairman), Encik Mohamad Nadzim Bin Ibrahim (Board of Director), and Azrul Reza Aziz (CEO) of the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics & IoT Institute (MARii), along with Ts. Nizmar Mohd Nazar, Deputy CEO of MARii. MG Motor Malaysia’s senior management team was represented by Managing Director Emory QiFeng and Chief Operations Officer Lee Wen Hsiang.
Customers who book the MGS5 EV during the Malaysia Autoshow with a RM500 booking fee will receive an exclusive early bird package featuring savings 10 times the booking amount. Early bird customers will also receive a complimentary 7kW Wallbox AC charger to support home charging, though installation is not included.
The MGS5 EV will be available in two variants: COM and LUX. The COM variant offers customers a choice between a 49kWh battery pack with up to 340km WLTP range or a 62kWh battery with up to 430km range. The LUX variant comes standard with the 62kWh battery and also delivers up to 430km of range.
All variants feature 170PS and 250Nm of torque through a Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) configuration, positioning the MGS5 EV as the only RWD option in its segment. Both variants come equipped with 7kW AC charging capabilities.
The LUX variant distinguishes itself with DC fast charging support up to 150kW, enabling charging from 10% to 80% in just 26 minutes. Premium features include 18-inch alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, leather-fabric seats with perforated MG logos, power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated leather steering wheel, wireless phone charging pad, six premium speakers, powered tailgate, and 360-degree surround view camera.
Both variants feature LED headlamps with ‘Racing Flag’ themed daytime running lights and MG’s signature Arch Taillights. Additional technology includes Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.8-inch central infotainment touchscreen with voice command, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and MG’s iSMART connectivity system. Boot space reaches up to 1,441 litres including the underfloor compartment.
The MGS5 EV incorporates an ultra-thin Horizontal Battery Layout design that maximises interior space while maintaining a low center of gravity. Its advanced adaptive pressure control system minimises battery cell expansion, enhancing both safety and battery longevity.

Visitors to the Malaysia Autoshow can explore MG’s complete lineup, including the all-new MGS5 EV, MG5, MG4, MG HS, and the MG Cyberster—the world’s first all-electric soft-top roadster.
The MGS5 EV will be available for test drives exclusively at the Autoshow, offering visitors the first opportunity to experience the vehicle before its official price launch. Test drives for the MG5, MG4, and MG HS will also be available throughout the event.
Additional promotional offers include a RM5,000 rebate on the MG5 and MG HS, and flexible ownership options for the MG4 with monthly installments starting from RM974. All bookings made at the Malaysia Autoshow will receive a complimentary gift, limited to the first 100 bookings.
Customers booking the MG Cyberster will receive a one-year Unlimited Charging package with JomCharge featuring Auto Charge functionality, a complimentary 7kW Wallbox AC Charger (installation not included), and an exclusive limited-edition MG Cyberster Diecast Model upon successful registration.
In collaboration with Bridgestone Malaysia, MG Motor Malaysia will host two public workshops: “Get to Know EV Tyres and Technology” and “Tyre Care and Know-How for Every Driver.” These workshops will provide insights into EV-specific tire innovations and essential maintenance practices, taking place from May 9-11, 2025, at 1:30 PM and 3:30 PM.
The Malaysia Autoshow runs from 9-15 May 2025, at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS), with the MG booth located in Hall A02. The show is open daily from 10 AM to 10 PM.
The MGS5 EV will be available in five colours: White, Monument Silver, Camden Grey, Dynamic Red, and Elegant Latte (available in 62kWh LUX variant only).
The MSRP estimated starting price (before registration fees, without insurance) for the All-New MGS5 EV is from RM115,000.
