My Dog Sighs Reflects Chichester Cathedral’s 950th Anniversary at GraffitiStreet Gallery

Currently exhibited at GraffitiStreet Gallery as part of the Concrete & Colour group show exhibition, My Dog Sighs’ latest canvas Concrete Vision is a bold and emotive exploration of urban identity, human connection, and the stories that hide in plain sight.

With his signature reflective eyes, My Dog Sighs invites us to peer into the soul of Chichester. Within them, a quiet yet powerful symbol of place and time emerges: the gothic spires of the late 15th-century Market Cross and the towering presence of Chichester Cathedral, standing since the late 11th century. Both landmarks grace West Street, the latter marking its incredible 950th anniversary this year.

The reflection is not just architectural it’s emotional. It’s what it reflects, the history, the people, the stories. A couple caught in a quiet embrace becomes the heartbeat of the canvas, grounding the grandeur of the city in a moment of intimacy.

“My favourite surface to paint on is concrete,” says the artist. “I wanted an explosion of colour…something that both balances and beautifully clashes.” Concrete Vision does exactly that. Its smokey grey background evokes the grit of the urban landscape while allowing vivid bursts of colour to leap forward.

But it’s the deep, reflective eyes that hold you. They are a quiet conversation between the artist and the viewer. My Dog Sighs offers a glimpse into his own emotional landscape, while encouraging us to see our own reflections. “The reflection is personal,” he adds, “but I’d rather you bring your own story to the work.”

Concrete Vision stands as a poetic tribute to Chichester marking Chichester Cathedral’s 950th anniversary celebrations.

“In Concrete Vision, My Dog Sighs signature reflection offers a moment of stillness within the city’s rhythm. A couple’s embrace, reflected against the backdrop of Chichester Cathedral, becomes a lens through which we see not only place, but connection, memory, and time.” Donna Haden Co-Founder GraffitiStreet

Visit GraffitiStreet Gallery also on West Street to experience this stunning tribute to city and history in person, and let Concrete Vision reflect your own story back at you.
