In Delhi’s Lodhi Colony lies Olive Group’s small, discreet cocktail bar called The Love Hotel, which is based on Japan’s cheeky “love hotels”. It has around 20 chairs, and though it’s more of a joking name than an actual hotel, it’s definitely a bar you’ll be thinking about. The Love Hotel offers a chance for people to enjoy intimate, sensually-driven, and cheeky experiences, along with cocktails and some small Asian-fusion bites. All are done under the creative direction of AD Singh and visionary partners Saumya Gupta, bartender Nitin Tewari, and Shiva Kant Vyas.

Walking into The Love Hotel is a sensuous, secret experience. Instead of walls, it has vibes when first entering a dark, red-tinted room. It features small, cozy two-top tables and a bartender directly in front of you. The coasters even feature cheeky “Love Games”, like biting vs. kissing or dice rolling, adding nice shadiness to the evening. The Love Hotel is ideal for a date, intimate, daring, and secluded.

Chef Saurabh Sharan’s creations are purposefully simple and suitable for sharing with friends. You should expect about a dozen small, Asian-influenced dishes, including wakame salad, sushi canapés, brie and chili tempura, and crunchy summer wraps. The pork ribs in soy-honey-mustard glaze are wonderful and tender, and the meat falls off the bone. It is all designed to go with your drinks and the feeling that you have; you can graze, share, snack, and continue a conversation.

Here, cocktails are also innovative and experimental; think of a lemongrass- and vodka-based cocktail with Earl Grey and passionfruit pearls (“Come, Play?”) or an old-fashioned cocktail with whiskey and coconut syrup with matcha-white-chocolate float (“Late Checkout”). In “Oops! We Did It Again”, “Love Bug,” and “Nose First,” to name a few, they subtly add savory ingredients or styles; for example, soy sauce, miso, and Jodhpur spice. Expect surprising sips that result in pure happiness.
