We recently had the opportunity to preview ATAS restaurant’s innovative new “The Sunday Table” buffet series, which launches this November 2024 with a focus on premium lobster dishes. ATAS is The RuMa Hotel and Residences’ signature eatery and their new Sunday buffet features standout creations including River Lobster Sizzle, served with crispy spinach cappellini, and an indulgent Borneo Lobster Thermidor.
The kitchen at ATAS is helmed by Chef Suhalmi Tasir, Executive Chef, The RuMa Hotel and Residences. His impressive journey through the world of dining began over 23 years ago, honing his skills at renowned establishments like Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur, The Westin Kuala Lumpur, Sheraton Macau, Intercontinental Kuala Lumpur, and W Hotel Kuala Lumpur. Chef Suhalmi’s dedication to the culinary arts shines through in his return to The RuMa Hotel and Residences as Executive Chef. He was initially part of the pre-opening culinary team in 2018, serving as Executive Sous Chef before a short break. His passion extends beyond the kitchen, as evidenced by his active participation in prestigious competitions organized by Culinary Malaysia FHM Competitions. These achievements speak volumes about his exceptional talent and unwavering commitment to culinary excellence. Chef Suhalmi’s expertise is incredibly versatile. With a wide range of culinary disciplines under his belt, including Asian and Western cuisine, Garde Manger, Japanese sushi, Ala Carte, Buffet, Cocktail/barbecue, and event functions, he’s comfortable tackling any culinary challenge.
The international buffet spread, highlighted by dishes from the Mibrasa charcoal oven, is priced at RM228 nett per person from 12noon to 3.30pm on Sundays. For those seeking an enhanced experience, beverage packages featuring free-flow selected Beer and red and white wine are available at an additional RM200, with a Sparkling Wine option at RM288.
The RuMa Hotel Transforms into Holiday Haven with Extensive Year-End Celebrations
As the year draws to a close, The RuMa Hotel and Residences is transforming into a festive wonderland, unveiling an extensive program of seasonal offerings designed to create a home-like atmosphere for celebration. From November 2024 through the New Year, the luxury hotel is rolling out an impressive array of experiences, combining culinary excellence with holiday warmth.
The Christmas season also brings a host of other specially curated experiences throughout the hotel. ATAS restaurant will present a series of festive set menus, including a four-course Christmas Lunch and Dinner on select dates. The lunch menu, priced at RM230 nett per person, will be available on December 21, 22, 24, and 25, while the four-course dinner at RM350 nett runs on December 20, 21, and 22. An exclusive six-course Christmas Eve Dinner, priced at RM460 nett per person, promises to be a highlight with signature dishes including Corn Fed Chicken with Mushroom Ragout and Wagyu Beef Rolls.
The hotel’s beverage program embraces the season with themed cocktails across multiple venues. SEVEN Lobby Bar introduces the Snowdrop, an elegant creation featuring vanilla foam and pear notes, alongside the whimsical Yuletide Bear, garnished with gummy bears. SANTAI Pool Bar and Lounge offers a tropical twist with cocktails like the Joyful Bliss, combining tequila, passionfruit, lemon, and Midori, and the uniquely crafted Nutty Symphony.
In a creative partnership with luxury retailer escentials, The LIBRARI presents a Festive Afternoon Tea that marries culinary artistry with fine fragrances. Priced at RM118 nett per person or RM228 nett for two, the experience includes a curated 3-piece fragrance discovery kit featuring AMOUAGE, LOEWE, and Penhaligon’s, redeemable at escentials’ KLCC store.
For those celebrating at home, The RuMa’s pastry team has created a trio of festive takeaway cakes at RM148 nett. The collection includes a Chestnut Yule Log featuring blackcurrant and Earl Grey tea notes, a traditional spice-infused Christmas Pudding, and a Pistachio Apricot Cake topped with Jivara chocolate whipped ganache.
New Year’s celebrations reach new heights with ATAS offering multiple menu options. The flagship six-course New Year’s Eve dinner, priced at RM650 nett per person, showcases premium ingredients including scallops, Wagyu tartare, lobster ravioli, and Australian lamb. Additional options include a four-course lunch set at RM250 nett and a five-course menu at RM450 nett on selected days.
SANTAI Pool Bar and Lounge will host “Strike Gold,” a glamorous countdown party featuring exclusive promotions of Gold 999.9 Gin from Alsace, France. Table bookings require a minimum spend of RM499.
The hotel’s wellness offerings embrace the season with special packages at UR SPA. The “Give the Gift of Relaxation” package at RM898 nett includes a 60-minute Dusun Inan massage and Swissline facial, with a complimentary Luxe Lift Rich Cream. The “Reconnect & Relax” package at RM914 nett combines a 90-minute Urutan Malaysia treatment with a Salt & Scrub session and the Festive Afternoon Tea.
Truefitt & Hill joins the celebrations with grooming packages including the RM217 nett Festive Best package featuring a Duke’s Cut, Hot Towel treatment, and Face Massage. The Ultimate Gentleman’s Grooming Package at RM286 nett adds a Shave and Shape service with complimentary Ear & Nose Waxing.
