I first met Adam Rapp 10 years ago when he had just started his business, Clothing Arts.
He began his business by creating a line of travel pants with a number of features that prevent casual theft while traveling.

The idea is that these clothes have design features that make it difficult for a thief to easily rob you. It’s my experience that most theft while traveling happens in a casual manner. You’ve left your phone sticking out of your pocket and someone lifts it or you tuck cash into a front pocket and someone quickly snatches it in a crowded train station.
This apparel line from Clothing Arts is designed to make that difficult or outright impossible for someone to pick your pocket.
For example, the front zippered pockets are designed so that the zipper zips up to close, rather than down. It’s far more difficult to zip up than to zip down as you don’t have the same leverage as when you zip down.
So you can keep your phone (the pocket is deep enough for a phone), your cash or any other valuables in a front zippered pocket and it’s not going anywhere unless you’re the one unzipping it.
There are also hidden pockets throughout the pants and you’ll find smaller pockets within other pockets where you can tuck away extra cash.
For the past six weeks or so, I’ve been testing out both the travel pants and the business pants.
I’ve noticed a couple of improvements since the early days of their development. Most notably, the women’s fit seems to be spot on. Adam told me they brought on a female designer for the women’s line and it’s worked well for them! I’m really happy with the shape and comfort of both of these pants.
